SYMPTOMS:
- Poor response to the accelerator pedal at low speeds (speeds up to 40 km / h).
- Increased fuel consumption.
- Knocking from the intake manifold side.
- Check Engine Light

You can easily diagnose the above problems by removing the engine cover and checking the condition of the manifold and the swirl flap's lever.

Most likely, if you have the above symptoms then the lever is loose at the connection point with the flap's shaft !!!

REASON:
Damage to the swirl flaps in the intake manifold unit !!!
The most common malfunction associated with the intake manifold on Mercedes-Benz engines is damage to the lever / pull rod activating the swirl flaps system. The main source of the problem is connecting the arms with the lever responsible for the movement of the flaps. The engine control module responsible for the fault codes from the intake manifold, swirl flaps and the lever control system shows information about the problems. Over time, this problem leads to an inevitable failure.
Over time, the connection points of the levers and the flaps getting worn, which leads to malfunction of the swirl flaps in the intake manifold.
The solution to this problem can only be replacement of the intake manifold, which costs about 500 pounds ... and this is a very expensive solution !!!

Buying a used intake manifold, unfortunately, you will not solve the problem, because the joints and tie rod are 99% worn out as well !!!
